Saw him in Edinburgh during that tour. His support act, believe it or not, was Trevor Rabin. This sounds like a raw mix from the desk? It's good but doesn't provide the full atmosphere and ambience of the sound swirling around you as his PA at the time did. It's a little 'dry'.

Many probably most Zappa fans, still do not know, the famous Captain Beefheart tune “The Blimp” was not Captain Beefheart it was JEFF COTTON !! recorded spontaneously by Frank Zappa over the phone. Yes it was thee Jeff Cotton reciting a new Beefheart poem. It greatly amused Frank after the recording you can hear him laughing saying we can just use it as is. The poem is recited at the same time The Mothers of Invention practice the instrumental “Charles Ives”, unintentionally resulting in a fusion of rhythm of the poem clicks into the beat of the instrumental. Zappa is heard remarking, “It’s beautiful.” Yes it is was is still beautiful, thanks to the great Jeff Cotton! Rock On

As a regular Cropredy attendee I have the majority of the cassette releases AT2 The Boot etc, but having a CD collection will - in my case - be an excellent solution as it will preserve my beloved cassette collection and put an end to the wear and tear they're beginning to succumb to.

Doesn't seem to be much genuinely new stuff here;although presumably the music will have been 'cleaned up',most Fairport fanatix will have most of this material already in various formats,and the previously unreleased tracks will most likely be multiple versions of a handful of songs! Hopefully it'll be better than the Island anniversary box set from a few years back.

I was introduced to progressive rock in 2002 by our flute player, Cheung Yiu Munn. He was then 18 and from Hong Kong...yet he was superbly knowledgeable about late 1960s and early 1970s progressive rock groups. Prior to meeting him, my love of music focused exclusively on baroque and 20th century classical works...and nothing else! Well, after sampling 2 or 3 tracks each of Jethro Tull, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, The Family and Van Der Graff Generator (and only The Family really impressed me at the time) I listened to Gentle Giant and it happened to be this album. I could not believe what I heard! I listened to the entire album...then made a mug of tea, rolled a cigarette and listened to the whole album again. By the end of the month I had purchased ALL their studio albums (which means, of course, I had to endure the shabby pop pap of the final 3 which, though superbly played, are not impressive as music, at least compared to what came before it). From Giant to Interview there's not a single track I don't enjoy. Three Friends (especially Schooldays) and Octopus (especially Knots, Boys In The Band and Think Of Me With Kindness) are probably my favourites. Our own group, UNIT, began to explore progressive rock territory as a result of my acquaintance with all this music and our sound changed accordingly although we never sounded like Gentle Giant. How could we? I mean, how could any group sound like them? Splendid stuff.
